Building out WNBA Toronto’s Executive Roster

27/09/2024
Welcome to the Team

WNBA Toronto has been hard at work crafting a team identity and building an organization that can win both on and off the court. While fans eagerly await the big reveal of the team name and logo later this year, behind the scenes a powerhouse front office is taking shape and laying the groundwork for a franchise that’s ready to compete at the highest level from day one.

This week, the team made its latest moves by adding two significant players to its executive roster: Whitney Bell as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) and Lisa Ferkul as Chief Revenue Officer (CRO). These leaders bring a wealth of experience to WNBA Toronto. Together, they are set to help steer the ship by bringing deep expertise, fresh ideas, and a passion for creating something that will not just succeed, but leave a lasting legacy.

Team President Teresa Resch knows how important these hires are. “Teamwork leads to championships,” she said in a media release this week. “So finding teammates who are not only amazing professionals but who are all in on what WNBA Toronto is working toward is so important. We’re building a business and a culture that’s based on excellence, on innovation, on partnership — and Whitney and Lisa are the right people to help us get to where we want to be for our team, our city and our country.”

Whitney Bell

Whitney — who has a career spanning more than 16 years and has worked with major brands like Dove, Clutch, and Lyft — is stepping into the CMO role with a mission to shape a brand that will resonate for generations. “This is much more than a job,” she says. “This is a chance to build something that takes a permanent place in our community and country. Something that fans connect to for generations and something that has particular significance to women and girls who love sport.”

Lisa Ferkul

Meanwhile Lisa, who has built her name as a top commercial leader at Golf Canada and Scotiabank, will spearhead partnerships and revenue generation as Chief Revenue Officer. “I am excited to be joining the incredibly talented executive at WNBA Toronto to help build this team from the ground up,” she says.

Logos enter first round of reviews

This is an exciting and important year for WNBA Toronto. With a solid foundation in place, the pieces are coming together. But it’s not just the executives that are busy planning, as designers have also been hard at work.

The first round of concepts for a team logo are already under review. Soon, the city will have its WNBA team in name and with a visual identity that embodies Toronto’s passion, pride, and power.

So, while the front office is taking shape and the team’s brand is being crafted behind the scenes, one thing is for sure: Toronto is ready to take its place on the WNBA stage. The team is buzzing with excitement and anticipation for 2026, and we can’t wait to continue to share this journey with you.
